Back by popular demand

Ok, by my own demand. All three boys are in school full time now, so I really have NO excuse to not maintain my blog/journal.
Just a quick update:
Caimen is now 8, baptized, and is in 3rd grade. Ben is 6 and is in 1st grade. Talon is 5 and is in Kindergarten.
We are still in Bellevue, Nebraska and after suffering a super HOT summer we are preparing for a torturous winter.
I'm getting back into a grove to get the house back in shape, as well as my body.
I can't think straight now cause I have a cold, but I'm going to make sure to post something new at least once a week and then make this into a book by the end of the year.
One of our favorite places to go in Fontenelle Forest. This summer they had a dinosaur exhibit and had a dozen or so dinosaurs spread throughout the trails. I love taking the boys here where I can birdwatch while they play and build dams.
I also get to see some butterflies and attempt some photography.

Getting busy...

Summer 2011 is here. I need to start getting this blog going again and maintaining it. I never have time to just sit and complete a though. Like now, 2 out of 3 children are bugging me for a snack, going into my bedroom and getting into my jewelry box, attempting to sit on my lap, and asking to be measured with a measuring tape (the tool kind, not sewing). Gads, well, I guess I bettter publish this and get back to work.

Shorebird Survey

Every Saturday morning I drive out to the open beaches along Highway 98 between Beasley Park and Eglin Beach, set up my scope, and survey the birds. I talley how many I see and what species they are, noting the condition they are in.

This is an effort created by the National Audubon Society to survey the birds in the areas that are affected by the BP oil spill.

Birders are assigned areas all along the Gulf Coast. As we survery the birds at the same time each Saturday in our designated area we are getting a snap shot of the birds in our area and their status.
This has been lots of fun. Hard work. And a great learning experience. I will be doing this until we move in October....

Oil spill update; June 17, 2010

Well, I went to the beach today, just to take a peek, and I find tar balls. I used 3 commas in that sentence, I'm quite proud. The tar balls were small and sticky and they stuck to the bottom of our flip flops like we stepped on raisins.

There is this sense of impending doom that hangs over everyone here in the Gulf. This huge amount of oil, gushing out of the bottom of the sea, with no end in site. My heart is broken. We are frustrated and anxious to do something...anything. Pick up a shovel, clean an animal, donate money...but we can't do any of that. BP will pay for anything and everything so money is not needed. We can't clean the beach or the animals without proper HAZMAT training. I signed up for it, but can never get into a class.

So poo. All I can do is watch, and cry, and remain frustrated.

2010

I hate blogging. I really do. But I am embracing technology, or in this case, letting it clinge to my leg as I walk around the house. Bleh. But.... my family needs more updates on the boys, more pics, more videos, more more more. And since we are a military family and hardly able to visit, I must oblige. Sooooooo (a needle pulling thread) I will be updating and *cough* blogging on here more often.

It's been about 3 years since I've posted anything.
I guess I need to get the ball rolling again.
Updating. Gads. I'm gonna have to take this one step at a time.

Prego

HA! Brokeback Mountain LOST the best picture category at the Oscars. I couldn't be happier. Everyone at my little party was pleased. Crash won, which was my pick. Buck made it home and I have been busy reuniting with my husband. We are now on the final stretch of the pregnancy thing. I have a C-section scheduled for April 11th but nobody thinks I'll make it that far. My belly is HUGE! We still don't have a name picked and we are still trying to get everything ready. I will be happy if we can just make it thru March without early labor. Caimen is doing good. He loves my belly, loves to rub it, poke it, sit on it. He says there's a baby in there, but he will also point at his own belly and say the same thing. He is so thrilled to have his daddy back. They are two peas in a pod. It will be neat to have two boys. Buck and I are ready, sort of, ok, not so much. I am scared out of my mind!!!
